EWIP Partners with the Yale Publishing CourseExceptional Women in Publishing enjoyed a partnership with Stanford Publishing Course where we provided them with highly-trained interns for their annual program. We are sad to report that after 32 years the Stanford Publishing Course ceased operations last year. We are very pleased, however, that Yale University has decided to carry on the mission to train emerging leaders in the book, magazine, and online publishing industry.
EWIP will partner with the newly launched Yale Publishing Course and its director, Tina C. Weiner to promote the program, provide an assistant for the week, and encourage our membership to participate in this important publishing course. EWIP will send board member, Linda Ruth, to the Yale Publishing Course later this month. She will be blogging about the experience every day of the course.
The inaugural session of the Yale Publishing Course will take place July 18-23, 2010, under the theme: "Leadership Strategies in a Time of Transition." EWIP members are eligible for a 10% discount on the tuition for the course.
Read more about this course for mid-career professionals or contact Linda Ruth.

New Name: Exceptional Women in PublishingAcknowledging the many changes in the publishing industry and our desire to encourage greater inclusion, a broader reach for our membership, and more possibilities for partnership, the board of directors at Women in Periodical Publishing voted this spring to change the name of the organization to Exceptional Women in Publishing.

New Web Site: ewip.orgThe name is not the only thing changing. We launch a new Web site soon. We are working with Black Dog Studios on a site that will better reflect the communication needs and tools of a rapidly changing, interactive publishing and media landscape. Our appreciation also goes out to EWIP board member, Dorothy Marschall, of Marschall Design who once again, has brought her branding and design skills to the task of our new name and Web site.
