Exceptional Woman in Distribution AwardCongratulations to Lisa Miya-Jervis, Publisher of Bitch Magazine, and winner of WIPP's 2002 Exceptional Woman in Distribution Award at this year's San Francisco Distribution Conference, hosted by the Independent Press Association.
The award was given to Lisa based on the outstanding newsstand achievements of Bitch Magazine. Over the years, this magazine, which focuses on exploring a feminist look at pop culture, has grown fourfold on the newsstand without losing it's incredible 85% sell through. That means Bitch Magazine sells 8.5 of every 10 copies distributed. This is an amazing feat, considering Bitch has increased its frequency as well as the quantity of copies distributed. WIPP After HoursWIPP is hosting a "Treat-Yourself-To Lunch" get-together for interested women in periodical publishing on Friday, April 5 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. This east coast event will draw from several publishing companies based in the town, including IDG, Helmers Publishing, Cobblestone, Yankee and a host of freelancers working in the industry.
