Congratulations to the 11th Annual Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award Recipient!Women in Periodical Publishing is pleased to announce that, Dorothy Kalins, a former executive editor at Newsweek, and an innovator in magazine editorial and management for decades, has been named Wipp’s 2010 Exceptional Woman in Publishing.
Dorothy Kalins joined Newsweek in 2001 as executive editor, brought in to revitalize the magazine. She helped direct their September 11th coverage, which won a National Magazine Award. She has edited numerous books, and has overseen the editorial of other magazine titles including Budget Travel, Metropolitan Home, Saveur, Traditional Home, Country Home, and Garden Design. In 2006, Kalins launched Dorothy Kalins Ink where, as director, she consults on projects both here and abroad. She has directed the editorial curriculum for magazines at the Stanford Professional Publishing Course.
Dorothy Kalins is the 11th recipient of WIPP’s Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award. Ms Kalins will be presented with the award at the Women’s Leadership Conference in San Francisco on January 29th, 2010.
